A couple months ago, I made a post about getting hired at a grocery store as a cashier. Well on Friday, one of the head managers pulled me off to the side before starting my shift to ask me if I'd be interested in a job in our stores frozen department. Obviously I said yes since being a cashier....sucks. After a brief kerfluffle regarding my schedule this week, I started my first day on the job, stocking shelves in frozen. There was no raise but I still call it a promotion since being a cashier is sort of the bottom rung at our store and working in a department is what most kids strive for (the ones who strive for anything at all at least.) Also made a couple purchases for car parts with no parental help which feels good, even though they're purely cosmetic mods bcuz Cube.
Anywho, stocking shelves is a huge step up. I'll be alone most of the time and get to schedule my own breaks/decide when it's time to wrap up on my own, without a manager holding my hand and telling me. Also, I'll be getting more stable hours and more hours than I was getting as a cashier. Which translates to more money. Which means my JDM sports car dreams could happen sooner than expected.

I always that being a cashier was the easy job. Was it really that bad?

It's easy most of the time but it varies from customer to customer. It ends up really just being tedious.

Being cashier was my first job ever and it was horrible. I quit before I got ''promoted'' (they said in the beginning that I would move on quickly to shelves, but they didn't.)
I hated every minute there.
Somehow during my shift and I was the only cashier someone snuck a chainsaw past me .

Congrats on the step up. Being a cashier sucks, because of all the douchenozzles you have to deal with on a day to day basis. Being in frozen is nice because he can work in the back and not be bothered by stupid people. Thats why years ago when I worked at Best Buy I used to love working on the merchandising team. I just wished we had a different color shirt so people wouldn't always ask us questions while we were busy doing a reset.
